We had previously posted that the role of Peeta Mellark in the Hunger Games was cast, per the Internet Movie Database. However, that information has now been removed and news sites everywhere are speculating on the entire cast. Although no official word about any of the parts has been made public, one thing is for sure–the casting of the Hunger Games movie is one of the most talked-about news stories this week!
Variety.com is reporting that the role of Katniss has been narrowed down to Jennifer Lawrence, Hailee Steinfeld, and Abigail Breslin. All three are former Oscar nominees. According to Variety, the other parts will not be cast until the female leads is cast because the ages of the main characters will all be dependent upon the age of the female lead cast.
With shooting set to start in the next couple of months, how much longer will it be before we hear who is playing Katniss and who is playing Peeta?
