Catching Fire

A lot of the Hunger Games news this week was surrounding the MTV Movie Awards. “Catching Fire” came away big with wins for Movie, Female, and Male performances. But that’s not all that is going on with The Hunger Games. Parents are still complaining about the book not being appropriate for kids and Mockingjay filming continues.

Among other information from the awards show, this article had some nice quotes from Josh Hutcherson about Philip Seymour Hoffman. Read all about that plus the winners in all of the categories.

“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” scooped top honors at the MTV Movie Awards. Great article talking about the many “wins” that HG had at the Award show. It’s nice to see an article that specifically highlighted Catching Fire.

Not everyone is a fan of The Hunger Games. Some parents are upset that the book is being taught to a fourth grade class. What age do you think is okay for reading The Hunger Games?

President Snow has some sumptuous accommodations awaiting him in Buckhead as “Mockingjay” continues filming in Atlanta. Get a little insider information on the decorating.

Catching Fire DVD Release

Hunger Games: Catching Fire is about to be released on DVD and Blu-Ray! Do you have your copy ordered yet?

Amazon has 2 different options. The DVD comes with an UltraViolet Digital Copy for $15.99. The better deal is the DVD/Blu-ray Combo + UltraViolet Digital Copy for $19.99. Both come with their Pre-order Price Guarantee that if the price falls between now and when it ships, you will get the lower price. I’ve had this happen to me a couple of times.

Looking around, these seem to be the best prices. BestBuy is selling them for $17.99 and $22.99. Walmart has the DVD for $17.99 but the Blu-ray for $19.96. For 3 cents difference, you are better off ordering from Amazon because their shipping is more reliable.

Hopefully Amazon will offer something where if you buy it from them you can also watch it digitally for free. We saw that happen with other similar movies like Twilight but we haven’t heard anything so far.

Have you pre-ordered your copy? Will you be watching Catching Fire this weekend?

A new set of “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” scenes has been released. The first official television spot is approximately one minute long and features the song “Atlas” by Coldplay, which was written for the movie. The commercial shows Katniss, Gale, Peeta, Effie, Prim, President Snow, and more of the characters that we are expecting.

See the new TV spot below. What do you think? Will you be there on November 22 for the opening?

Hunger Games Catching Fire Trailer

With the arrival of Comic-Con we now have the Hunger Games: Catching Fire official trailer! It definitely sets up the storyline, including the facts that two victors from each district will be chosen for the next games, that Katniss is being targeted, and that Peeta is in love with her. The trailer is actually pretty long and almost gives away too much, too fast in my opinion.

In terms of acting, costumes, production, etc.,  I think it looks even better than the first. What do you think?
