The Super Bowl is always known for its commercials and sneak peeks, and this year will be no different. Entertainment Tonight is reporting that brand new Hunger Games scenes will be aired Sunday as a part of the Super Bowl pre-game show. Here’s a clip of a part of that teaser with a tender moment between Katniss and Gale, more about Katniss and her sister, a tiny bit of the actual Hunger Games and more.

It’s not enough but at least it is more than we have gotten so far! As soon as we can get video of the full teaser, we will get it posted.

Hunger Games Flaming Mockingbird Shirt

Official Hunger Games Merchandise is finally here! The good news is that Hot Topic has released a Limited Edition Hunger Games Flaming Mockingjay Shirt that resembles the poster for the new Hunger Games movie (black background shirt with the mockingjay symbol on fire). Even better news is that they are Buy One, Get One Half Off today.

The bad news? They are selling quickly and might very well sell out today! I heard from my contact last night that they expected these to sell like crazy online today. They have both men and women versions, and they are sized from XS to 3X. Since these are the first shirts that we have seen for the movie, I have no doubt that they will be incredibly popular.

Hunger Games Empire Magazine

We have had a number of people emailing us asking if we know where they can buy a copy of the March 2012 Empire Magazine with the spread about The Hunger Games. The bad news is that it is a UK magazine and tough to get in the United States. However, there are 15 copies for sale on eBay right now, and they are not terribly expensive.

The magazine was released late January and features some incredible pictures and interviews from the movie set. Here’s the blurb from the Empire Magazine website:

“Seriously, once and for all, it’s not just another Twilight and does promise genuine violence. We talk to the filmmakers and stars of the toughest teen movie ever.”

You can check out the bids for the Empire Magazine on eBay starting at about $1.55. These will likely sell out in the next couple of weeks not just because of the Hunger Games article but also because they have collectible Avengers covers.

Since we have gotten word that there are not going to be any official Hunger Games party supplies this spring, we have decided to see how we can create our own! We found a really cool site that will allow you to create custom Hunger Games Party favors. What we have done below is just one option but will be a good start for you.

1. First you need to visit a site called Party Beans. There you will find different shapes of tins as well as things you can fill them with (mints, M&Ms, Jelly Belly jelly beans, etc). We chose the round one for our Hunger Games party favor because we are going to put the round Mockingjay on it. But you can choose any that you like. Prices start at $1.99 each depending on how many you are ordering. (Order from 1 to thousands!).

2. Once you decide which shape you want, you need to decide what image you want on it as well as what (if anything) you want it to say. We chose the Mockingjay symbol (which you can download here if you need it) and the words “May the Odds Be Ever in Your Favor.” You could just as easily put your birthdate, the movie release day, or whatever you want. This is what the top of our party favor would look like:

3. Decide what you want to fill your tins with (if anything) and place your order!

We really love Party Beans for this but you could also do something similar through Beau Coup. You could use these party favors for a Hunger Games birthday party, a movie release party, a class reward, or even prizes.

Even if you already have a copy of The Hunger Games, you likely do not have this one! The brand new Hunger Games “Movie Tie-In” Edition is now available and shipping from Amazon. It basically is The Hunger Games with a new cover that features the poster from the upcoming movie.

The soft cover book sells for $8.48 and will ship for free with Super Saver Shipping or Amazon Prime.

Don’t forget that the Hunger Games Official Movie Companion comes out on February 7 and is available for pre-order right now. This is going to be a “must-have” gift for Hunger Games fans.

Every now and again we come across some really unique Hunger Games merchandise and these would definitely qualify! Newbury Comics is selling (via Amazon) Hunger Games Katniss Knee Socks. They do not have a size on them, but I am betting that they fit girls/women size 5-9 because that’s the usual range for novelty socks of this type.

The socks are made by NECA and were part of the release of Hunger Games merchandise before the Mockingjay book release. They are black and yellow with “The Hunger Games” written on the foot, “Katniss” written up the leg, and the Mockingjay at the top. You can get them through Amazon for between $7 and $10 plus shipping.

Everyone has been asking me where I got my Hunger Games shirt, and unfortunately CafePress isn’t selling it anymore. However, I just found some really cute Hunger Games shirts on Spreadshirt. You have to search around a bit on their site using terms like “Peeta” and “Hunger Games,” but you should be able to find most of them. Most of them can be personalized a little bit too–like printed on different colors of shirts.
