Hunger Games News Week of February 20, 2014

Not much news about Mockingjay this week, but the Hunger Games still managed to appear in the news quite a few times for various reasons. Here are some of our favorite stories from this week.

Elaborate designs and covetable fashion were the focuses of the 2014 Costume Designers Guild Awards on February 22 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, where winners included “Hunger Games: Catching Fire.”

 

Katniss takes a vacation? Word on the street is that Jennifer Lawrence, after filming seven movies in a row, is headed for a much-needed sabbatical, studio exec Harvey Weinstein told the Sun. “She’s going to have a long break for a year where she won’t do anything. It’s been nonstop for her and she deserves a rest,”

 

We love Effie, and so does Elizabeth Banks! She was quoted as saying that everyone on film set “gets excited” to see her as Effie.

 

The Hunger Games just keeps breaking records! The sequel (“Catching Fire”) has taken in $423.6 million, topping “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest”
